Other Web resources for independent artists

This indie organization is new (as of April 2005) and they have started with an on-line forum. Goals are to form an alliance of artists working for change globally. I like their approach. this is a Toronto-based, Canadian site but it is geared for everyone.

This is a cool site for resource swapping. They use an alternative currency in the form of "Xchange" points and these credits give you more access to showcase yourself on the site. You earn these points by swapping resources, contacts, gigs, or, in general, helping other bands. I love the concept. It's free to join.

This is an indie music resource site. Mostly U.S. venues, promo, etc., but very useful for orienting your band before touring. They also do CD reviews!

This is a music resource site (mostly U.S. resources). They also do CD reviews!

This is a music resource site for female musicians. U.S.-based, but not strictly U.S. artists. They also do CD reviews!

This is a music resource site for female guitarists. U.S.-based, but not strictly U.S. artists. They also profile artists, so it acts as a promotional site as well.

This is a site through which to sell your indie CDs. Provides sound clips as well.

This is a site through which to sell your indie CDs. This is a preferred site because they pay promptly, offer a means to take credit cards at show (rental of machine) and offer a great forum for indie artists to maintain an online presence.

This is a resource site not unlike Few'll Ignite Sound. They have a great search engine and a means to submit data. It is also run as a collective. Yeah for community!

This is our page on a site that lets you search for artists all over the world. Here is Ember Swift's page on this site: ARTISTDIRECT.COM Label Page

A fantastic site by The Council of Canadians about the currency of water in these days of depleting fresh water sources, commodification of natural resources and corrupt corporate monopoly and privatization. (Be sure to visit their main website too, because it's fantastic.)
